✔️ Pharmacology:

• Tropicamide: Blocks muscarinic (M4) receptors in the eye's muscles, inhibiting the iris sphincter and ciliary muscles. This causes pupil dilation (mydriasis) and ciliary muscle paralysis (cycloplegia).
• Phenylephrine Hydrochloride: A selective alpha-1 agonist that induces pupil dilation (mydriasis) without affecting accommodation (cycloplegia). It also reduces intraocular pressure by vasoconstriction.

• Trophen is for external use only.

• For Diagnostic or Pre-operative Purposes: Instill 1-2 drops into the affected eye(s) 15-20 minutes before the procedure. An additional drop may be administered to extend the effect if the procedure is not conducted within 20-30 minutes.

Tropicamide may interfere with the antihypertensive effects of carbachol, pilocarpine, or ophthalmic cholinesterase inhibitors.
